Is this a good build: ranger specializing in beast mastery and markmanship
I currently have a ranger in the lower levels. I was wondering for those of you out there who have experience with rangers, do you think that my ranger would be very good if I specialized in beast mastery and markmanship? Also, can you suggest which pet is the best one to get? Thanks for any input.

Do you want to do PvP or PvE? Remeber you can always refund your points so its no biggie if you make a mistake. If you want to do pvp later you'll want decent markmanship but beastmastery is really not needed. Just my 2 cents. As for best pet i dunno bears seem nice. Lynxs are cool too

you can use marks expt wilderness and beast all well. I have 14 in marks 13 in expertise 9 in wilderness and 9 in beast (if I remember right, this is from memory)
That hits the good marks in each skill. lol tiger fury is what I use beast for...I don't use a pet much.. =)

U dont need a high beastmastery to make tiger's fury effective so you could be wasting pts there. You prob only need like 5-6.

If I remember right, tiger fury goes up at 3 5 7 9...so any even numbered points would be a waste. =p

also, if your only using beastmastery for tigers fury, you should tkae to 5 at most. if you do want to use your pet, then dont take tigers fury - it disables pet attacks, and the more pet attacks you have equiped and usable, the more pwoerful your pet is.

Most people will tell you that Beast Mastery is underpowered if not worthless. It's a cool idea, but pets do low damage and have less armor/health than their masters.
Most games give Rangers/Archers/Hunters pets because the archers can't take damage themselves, but in GW you're the one who can take hits, but your pet need protection. You have to babysit the pets to keep them alive, and they don't contribute more damage output than other attributes would.
